Rob Wellman joined Bridge Learning Campus as a Governor eight years ago. He has therefore seen the transition to Academy status and was an active member in the team to restructure the Local Governing Body so that it was more appropriate for the needs of the school.
He had always been a link Governor for Finance but is also keenly involved in Student Voice, Teaching and Learning, pupil outcomes and other groups set up to improve the educational journey of the students.
Rob moved to Bristol 35 years ago to take up the position of Public Affairs Manager for Esso Petroleum. This role served the major employment points of Fawley Refinery, Milford Haven and distribution points across the country, including Avonmouth. Rob was promoted to become a Regional Manager, a senior position responsible for all aspects of the successful operation, staffing, property portfolio, development and financial control of 170 plus retail outlets. He was also asked to head up specialist national task-force groups on a regular basis.
From September 2019, Rob is co-chairing the Local Governing Body at Bridge Learning Campus and will contribute to the working of the MAT through becoming a director thereby utilising his skills and experience from both his industrial and educational past.
Rob and his wife Sally have two children and four grandchildren. Rob is a passionate sailor and they both enjoy travelling to remote places.
